A Strong Tower

Playing Hide and Seek was tiring work for a seven-year-old. I threw myself onto the grass and rested against the stone wall. I leaned my head back and looked up at tower of an ancient castle. I wondered how many children hid among these same walls during a castle attack 100's of years before.

I thought for years that every child in the world played in the shadow of castle towers for recess. Only when I was much older did I realize the unique experience I had because my American family lived in Germany for a season.
